Ep 78 My Trip to France: Beaujolais & Burgundy 101
When I was planning my trip to France with Mr. Cork & Fizz, it was an absolute given that we would visit Burgundy! And much to my surprise, I saw that we would have to drive right through Beaujolais to get to Burgundy. You know we had to stop in Beaujolais for a wine tasting and I’m so glad we did!
So, for today’s episode we are going to talk about Burgundy and Beaujolais, and what makes each area so special.
Beaujolais is actually known as the forgotten part, or black sheep, of Burgundy. We will dive into an overview of Beaujolais, its classification system, what grape comes from here, and the absolutely insane wine that we had at Domaine du “Tane”.
Then we will move onto Burgundy with an overview of this region, the classification system here, and what grapes you will find in Burgundy. We discuss what regions house some of the most popular Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays in the world, and my tasting experience at Jean-Baptiste Jessiaume.
So, are you ready for a journey through the heart of France’s most beloved wine regions? If so, grab a glass of wine and tune in!
